Exciting news for music lovers and creators! Google has just boosted its Gemini chatbot with the power of AI-generated music, thanks to the cutting-edge Lyria 3 audio model from Google DeepMind.
You can now explore Lyria 3 in beta within the Gemini app, where you can craft 30-second musical pieces using simple text prompts, images, or even videos. This exciting feature is being launched globally and supports several languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese. Please note that access is currently limited to users who are 18 years of age or older.
With Lyria 3, the power to create unique songs is in your hands. Simply describe the genre you’re after, the mood you want to capture, or even a personal memory you’d like to translate into music. Imagine requesting an Afrobeat track inspired by your childhood adventures! The tool is capable of generating both instrumental pieces and songs complete with AI-generated lyrics. For a truly personalized touch, upload photos or video clips and watch as Gemini tailors the lyrics and sound to perfectly complement the content’s vibe.
Google’s intention isn’t to produce chart-topping hits, but rather to provide a platform for creative expression. To enhance the sharing experience, each track comes with unique cover art created by Nano Banana.
Furthermore, Google is incorporating Lyria 3 into YouTube Dream Track, providing creators with the ability to generate AI-powered soundtracks for their Shorts.
Previous demonstrations of Lyria and Dream Track highlighted the potential to emulate the voices and styles of famous artists. Acknowledging copyright concerns, Google has designed Lyria 3 with original creation in mind. While you can’t ask for a specific artist, Gemini can generate music in a similar style or mood, using filters to prevent replication of existing works.
First unveiled in 2023, Lyria was initially confined to Google Cloud’s Vertex platform. Its expansion to the Gemini app significantly broadens its reach, although it follows similar launches from competitors like TikTok and Microsoft’s Copilot.
